Princess Arielle Dellune of Nieverdell has always been overlooked. As the 10th child of the King of Nieverdell, and his only born out of wedlock to a woman even Arielle herself has never met, she has never been treated as anything other than a nuisance. So it comes as no surprise to her that when her brother, Prince Alexis, accidentally shoots a wolf, an animal sacred to the Kingdom of Northendell, that Arielle herself is offered as a consolation. She does not even bother to argue with her father as she resigns herself to her new fate as a prisoner to the King of Northendell. However, Arielle is surprised when she finds herself in King Ronan of Northendell’s castle, being treated as more of a Princess than a prisoner. Arielle had heard grumblings about King Ronan, including that his face was badly scarred by a dragon, causing him to wear a black mask to cover his disfigurement. She also knew that he was greatly feared by the entire kingdom. But instead of a terrifying dictator, Arielle is met with a kind and patient man, willing to do anything in his power to better Arielle’s life. Arielle attempts to put the rumors behind her and believe only in the pleasant man she sees before her, but after hearing a strange folktale about a young prince cursed by a witch to transform into a wolf every full moon, Arielle can’t help but wonder, is King Ronan hiding something from her? And more importantly, is the man she is slowly falling for actually a threat to her life?
