Every royal family is protected by a single Moonbound—an immortal creature capable of shifting into the beast their kingdom fears most. But the Moonbound are not protectors by choice. They are controlled by magical collars. Twenty-four-year-old Lyra Vale has spent her life stealing from the royal family that executed her mother. During a robbery, she accidentally breaks the collar belonging to Rhydian Ash, the king’s most dangerous weapon. Rhydian can shift into a black wolf, a winged serpent, a massive shadow cat, or a fire-breathing dragon. Each transformation makes him stronger—but slowly destroys his human mind. The moment Lyra frees him, a glowing mark appears over both their hearts. They are now magically bound. If one dies, the other dies. The problem is that Rhydian was ordered to kill her before she broke his collar.
