The Weight of Echoes is an epic high-fantasy noir series set in Orizon, a vertical city built inside the fossilized body of a colossal titan. In this world, memory is not only identity but currency, weapon, fuel, and power. Through a system called Echo-Casting, people can burn their most precious memories to perform magic, heat their homes, alter gravity, or buy a few more hours of survival. The higher you live in Orizon, the more comfort you have. The lower you sink, the more of yourself you are forced to sell. At the center of the story is Kaelen Jax, a memory thief who survives by stealing fragments of other people’s lives while secretly hoarding the memories he cannot bear to let the world destroy. His life changes when he meets Elara, a mysterious young woman known as a Null, someone who cannot store long-term memories and therefore wields a completely different kind of power, one rooted not in the past but in the living immediacy of the present. Together, they uncover a conspiracy hidden in the architecture of the city itself: the ruling powers of Orizon have built their civilization on mass forgetting, class violence, and the deliberate erasure of a truth so dangerous it could unmake everything they know. As the story unfolds, The Weight of Echoes becomes more than a tale of survival or rebellion. It is a meditation on memory, identity, grief, power, and the stories societies tell to justify injustice. The series explores what it means to lose parts of yourself in order to live, whether the past is a burden or a lifeline, and whether a future can ever be truly free if it is built on organized forgetting. Dark, emotional, layered, and atmospheric, it combines the intimacy of personal loss with the scale of myth, moving from crime and conspiracy into revelation, political collapse, and cosmic awakening. At its heart, the series asks a devastating question: If your memories make you who you are, what happens when the world teaches you to burn them just to survive?
