Stripped of his rank and haunted by a catastrophic lie, Commander Soren Vex is a ghost in a galaxy that remembers his failure. Exiled from the fleet, his only hope for redemption lies with a crew of outcasts and criminals aboard a salvage tug, the Rusty Prophet. Their impossible mission: rescue a brilliant scientist, Dr. Aris Thorne, from the deadly gravitational anomalies of the Fracture, a nebula that tears ships apart. If Thorne and her revolutionary drive core fall into the wrong hands, the fragile peace of the galaxy will shatter, reigniting a war Soren knows all too well. But in a universe where everyone has a past, can a band of broken souls find purpose in a mission no one else dares to attempt?
