Cole Navarro is F-rank, the lowest rank there is. For three years he's hauled loot through monster gates for the Crimson Lance guild, because a porter's wage is the only thing keeping his little sister's hospital bed paid for. Then, deep inside a gate called the Weeping Cathedral, the guild's golden heir Lucien Vance needs a sacrifice to open the boss door. He picks Cole. His girlfriend Sienna, the team healer, freezes him with her own spell so he can't run. They walk out together, and they tell the cameras he died a coward. Bleeding on the cathedral floor in front of a chained monster that has killed S-ranks for forty years, Cole hears a cold voice that sounds like a banker. [Grievance detected. The Ledger is open.] The system has written down every debt the world owes him: Lucien, Sienna, the guild, the insurance company that cut off his sister, and one name it won't show him yet. Every debt he collects makes him stronger. To survive the next ten minutes, though, he has to take out a loan, and if he can't repay it in thirty days, the Ledger collects him. Three days later the gate collapses, live on the news, while Lucien is giving a speech about the porter who ran. And Cole walks out behind him. They used him as bait. Now everyone pays, with interest. Listen to The Revenge Ledger System, only on Pocket FM.
