As a fixer who deals in impossible problems, Mara is no stranger to dark deals, but this one grants her the power to absorb pain from others, healing their wounds while aging herself with every hour she holds their suffering. When a friend's life hangs in the balance, she uses her new ability, only to discover the pain she takes becomes permanently hers after midnight. Now, with a streak of white hair and a growing collection of borrowed agony, Mara must navigate a city teeming with hurt, knowing that every act of salvation costs her a piece of her own life.
