Julian Croft is a rising actor cursed with Affective Detachment Disorder, unable to feel genuine emotion unless he becomes someone else. After portraying a terrifying villain, Julian is recruited by the mysterious Foundation to explore unknown worlds governed by deadly rules. His first mission takes him and seven other Pioneers into a dangerous city hospital, where survival depends on uncovering hidden laws before time runs out. With his unique ability, “Sometimes, I Become Someone Else,” Julian can assume different identities—but every transformation risks allowing the character’s personality to consume him. To win his freedom and fulfill any wish, he must survive increasingly horrifying worlds while confronting the darkness within himself.
