In a world where a man's worth is measured by the roar of his bonded beast, Clance is nothing but a stable boy, bound to a creature everyone calls a mud-worm. But beneath Jam's dull, grey scales, a hidden power stirs, a dormant ancestry waiting for the right spark to ignite. When Overseer Marrick threatens to destroy the only thing Clance has, a desperate act of theft sets in motion an impossible evolution. Now, with a newly transformed Ember-Drake and strange new abilities awakening within himself, Clance must navigate a treacherous estate where every shadow hides a threat. They're coming for them, but will this unlikely pair rise from the ashes, or be consumed by the very fire they've unleashed?
