“You’re still shaking,” Azrael said, his voice low as he stepped closer. Medeina stilled, forcing herself not to move back. “If I were afraid of you, I wouldn’t still be standing here.” His hand came up, slow, possessive, brushing a strand of hair away from her face before settling at her throat. “Bravery,” he murmured, thumb pressing lightly against her pulse, “or denial?” Her breath hitched, but her gaze didn’t waver. “Call it whatever helps you sleep.” A faint smile curved his lips. “But I don’t sleep, Medeina.” His grip tightened just enough to remind her how easily he could break her. “And you,” he continued, voice dropping, “will learn exactly what it means to belong to me.” She leaned in, just slightly, her voice quieter now. “I would rather die.” Something dark flickered in his eyes. “Then you’ll die slowly,” he said. “Right here. With me.” --- Blurb: The sky turns black, carrion birds fall dead, and Medeina’s wedding day ends in blood. A goddess of nature, she is meant to give life, not lose everything in a single night. But when the battle ends, it is not her people who stand victorious. It is him. Azrael. Sovereign of the Abyss. A god of wrath who walks out of war untouched—and claims her as his prize, holding her father’s life in his hands. Bound in a forced marriage to the very darkness that destroyed her world, Medeina is trapped in a realm where power is law, love is a weapon, and defiance comes at a cost. She wants revenge. She wants her kingdom back. But Azrael is not a man who can be easily destroyed. And the closer she gets to breaking him, the more dangerous it becomes to survive him.
