In a quiet countryside, 16-year-old Tari lives a poor but peaceful life with his grandfather — until the night when shadow beasts descend from the skies and burn his village to ashes. The world he knew is shattered. But as he runs for his life, he’s captured — not by the enemy — but by a secret magical force called The Crimson Guard, who serve an ancient, hidden kingdom buried under the cities of men. He learns he is not ordinary. His blood is marked — not by royalty — but by an ancient curse tied to the world’s survival. Now, forced into a brutal training ground, Tari must choose: Accept the call to adulthood and become a soldier of magic and flame… Or die broken, just like the world that raised him.
