In a world where the Earth has drifted from the Sun, casting the planet into eternal cold, humanity clings to life within the winding tunnels of the Under Spire. Life beneath the earth is brutal, deadly, and lived in increments of warmth, light, and survival—but for Thorne Solven, it is so much more than simple life. A boy born of debt and circumstance, Thorne lives on the edge of life and death, pursued by the merciless gang known as the Void Marked. One wrong move, and the Runic Enforcement Division, their glowing sigils a warning and a promise, will claim their own, using the legendary chisel to keep order in a city as cold as the stone it’s built upon. When Thorne’s life and body are reduced to rubble in a single night of violence, he finds himself awake in a world of secrets and power, where the rules are hidden and the shadows are always a threat, and every rune is a tool or a weapon in the winding tunnels of the Under Spire.
