A sophisticated black cat, poised and regal, speaks to Claire from his shelter cage, demanding release. This isn't just any feline; he's a self-proclaimed royal with an insatiable craving for cake and a sharp wit. Claire, a professional baker, finds herself the reluctant owner of a creature who claims to have bestowed upon her the gift of speaking to cats, all for a mere fifteen dollars. But this magical, demanding companion isn't content with a quiet life of tea and pastries. He's a creature of mystery, with secrets far deeper than his love for allspice. What ancient power lurks behind those piercing blue eyes, and what will it truly cost Claire to keep this extraordinary, cake-loving cat?
