Victor Sterling wakes up in 1936—not as himself, but as a military academy cadet on the eve of graduation. Armed with memories from his past life as a twenty-first century government official and a loyal Red Party veteran, he possesses knowledge of the devastating wars and political upheavals about to unfold. When his mentor offers him a position in the Bureau of Military Intelligence instead of the front lines, Victor seizes the opportunity. His reincarnation comes with an extraordinary gift: enhanced physical abilities and the power to extract memories from those he interrogates. As he hunts Japanese spies infiltrating the Republic, he uses his future knowledge to outmaneuver enemies, uncover conspiracies, and amass resources. But playing both sides is dangerous. Victor must maintain his cover within the Nationalist intelligence apparatus while secretly working to help the Red Party he truly serves. Every captured spy, every interrogation, every decision could expose him. With friends destined for the front lines and family caught in the coming chaos, can he change individual fates without derailing history itself?

This is a fantasy thriller written in a weird historical alternate reality China and its war with Japan. The writer seems to be pro CCP but the setting is pre CCP takeover.

One of my favorite authors. Had to take a quick listen. Male narrator is working for me - which isn’t always the case, so yay! Story has def possibilities, though unfinished so far.
