In one night, the entirety of the Jade Empire was burnt to the ground in a coup by the evil and ruthless Lord Yuan. The king was killed, his heir and his mother escaped into the night, where she made the hard decision to let him grow up in a lowly shack with an old apothecary before disappearing into the darkness. Years later, Rui grows into a handsome, skilled man whose face appeals to all, and his words sway even generals. Will Rui climb the ranks of the palace from a worthless apothecary to the rightful heir of the Kingdom he was robbed of, or will he decide to be a healer rather than an heir?
