In the near future humanity encounters monsters from a different world through portals known as rifts. War ensues for years, leading to a new world with super powered humans and monsters on the planet. When Alec Veylon is sentenced to death by his brother Maximus on his birthday, his last wish is to behold a shooting star. He had no idea that this star would bring a rebirth. Born again, Alec has to decide between using his new found powers for vengeance or to save humankind from the ever looming threats of monsters from beyond.
