Stefan, the Dark King of House Ventru is kidnapped and imprisoned by his enemies. Locked in a box, Stefan comforts himself with memories of his true love Erica. Erica was a Viking shield maiden who stole his heart, and life years ago. She had turned him into a creature of the night. Erica is oblivious to the passage of time.
