In the shadowed fringes of Darkwood, where ancient embers from Muspelheimr streak the sky and the roots of Yggdrasil pulse beneath the earth, Stella is a young woman already unraveling. Defiant and restless, she rebels against her father’s rigid expectations of purity and legacy in a prosperous horse-breeding family. Scandals, forbidden love with a luminous elf, and the crushing weight of patriarchal control chip away at her spirit—each act of agency met with shame, exile, or loss. When dark elves raid under the cover of war, her world ignites. Her mother’s desperate stand buys fleeting seconds; the manor burns, and Stella watches everything she secretly cherished consumed by flames. Captured with her innocent sister and dragged into the glowing caverns somewhere beneath Darkwood, she stands on the brink of a deeper captivity. But fate has marked her since birth—a tree-shaped birthmark that whispers of destiny. An ancient relic, bound to a master who claims her as slave, will force a new name upon her: Belinda. It will awaken the beast within, twisting grief, rage, and stolen power into something monstrous. What begins as a troubled girl’s fight for freedom ends in the forging of the Beast Queen—a force destined to challenge gods like Odin, raze empires, and devour the very realm that broke her. A dark Norse-inspired origin of villainy, this pocket book traces the tragic path from defiant daughter to unwilling destroyer. In a world of warring elves, cursed relics, and cosmic fire, one truth emerges: sometimes the greatest monsters are made, not born.
