In the war-scarred continent of Kaelthyr, where five Dominions bleed each other dry with magic and monsters, three youths from a forgotten border province are conscripted into a radical military experiment: the Chimera Unit. Kael Vorrin, a pragmatic soldier, Seris Vale, a beast-handler with a rare empathic bond, and Lyra, a reclusive mage with uncontrolled power, are forcibly bonded into a single, unified weapon. Their mission is to accelerate the war to a swift, brutal conclusion for their Dominion. As they achieve impossible victories, they uncover a horrifying truth: the Chimera project isn't just designed to win, but to create a new, uncontrollable form of warfare that will consume all Dominions. The unit's creator, High Marshal Thorne, sees them as the future of conquest, while a final, ancient threat, the Shadow in the Stone, stirs, drawn to their unified power. Torn between duty, the horrifying ambition of their masters, and the survival of the very world they are tasked to conquer, the trio must make an impossible choice. They must turn their unparalleled destructive power against their creators, shatter the bonds that make them a weapon, and redefine the meaning of strength before they become the architects of Kaelthyr's annihilation.
