COLD EQUITY is an Urban Male Drama Audio Series set in Detroit, Michigan. It is the story of Marcus Cole — a Black man wrongfully convicted at twenty-four, who serves five and a half years in federal prison for a crime he did not commit, loses his father while incarcerated, and emerges at thirty-one with one mission: to bring down the man who destroyed his life, restore what was stolen from his community, and build something that lasts. This is not a revenge story in the traditional sense. It is colder than that. More precise. Marcus Cole does not want blood. He wants justice — real, documented, permanent, courtroom-level justice — and he is willing to sacrifice years of his life, his peace of mind, and his freedom to get it. Cold Equity is about power, community, money, and what happens when a man who was stripped of all three decides to take them back — not with his fists, but with his mind. THE PROTAGONIST — MARCUS COLE Marcus Cole is thirty-one years old when the series begins. Lean, still, and careful — a man who has learned to make every word and movement deliberate. He grew up on the east side of Detroit, the son of Gerald Cole, who spent his life running the East Detroit Community Investment Fund: a nonprofit that pooled savings from three hundred and twelve working-class Black families and invested them in local businesses, giving people without access to mainstream finance a way to build wealth and dignity. At twenty-four, Marcus discovered that someone had been stealing from the fund for seven years — two million, three hundred thousand dollars, routed through elaborate shell companies to a single destination: Dominic Shaw, a wealthy real estate developer and celebrated civic figure. Marcus made the mistake of trusting the wrong people with what he found. Within seventy-two hours, Shaw had flipped the evidence against him. Marcus was arrested, convicted on fabricated charges, and sentenced to six years. His father suffered a stroke upon hearing of the arrest and spent his remaining years believing his son was guilty. He died three months before Marcus was released. Marcus used every day of his sentence to prepare. The prison library became his second education — financial law, forensic accounting, corporate structure, federal procedure. He built, in the silence of a cell, a plan seven years in the making. When he walked out, he was ready. THE ANTAGONIST — DOMINIC SHAW Dominic Shaw is sixty years old, silver-haired, broad-shouldered, and impeccably dressed. He is the most dangerous kind of villain: one who genuinely believes he is a good man. He chairs charity boards, gets photographed with mayors, and speaks movingly about community development. Underneath that reputation, he has spent fifteen years running a systematic extraction operation against the east side of Detroit — bribing officials, manipulating city planning, and executing a long-term plan to acquire and gentrify eight blocks of the neighborhood, displacing generations of families for private profit. He has never faced a real consequence. He believes himself untouchable. His one vulnerability is his ego — the deep, unexamined certainty that he is always the smartest person in the room. That certainty is exactly what Marcus intends to use against him. THE STORY Marcus is three weeks out of prison when a woman named Yvonne Reyes contacts him through an encrypted message. She is Shaw's former personal accountant — nine years inside the operation, nine years of watching and documenting. Their call is cut off mid-sentence when Shaw's men come looking for her. Marcus retrieves her evidence drive from her abandoned apartment and finds inside it forty-three fol
