For seven years, Kaen Vane has been nothing but a mistake, a broken shard in a House that values power above all else. Cast out and tormented for the twisted shard fused to his spine, he endures a life of quiet suffering, a constant reminder of his family's disappointment. But when his cruel brother delivers a final, brutal beating, something awakens within Kaen. The pain, the humiliation, the years of being "wasted" suddenly register not as weakness, but as currency. A cold, otherworldly voice speaks of a ledger, of debt-points, and a first withdrawal. In a world where his very existence is a burden, Kaen Vane discovers a terrifying new power born from his deepest wounds. What will he buy with a lifetime of pain, and who will pay the price?
