High above a breathtaking 600-foot waterfall, a castle stands sentinel, its ancient stones holding secrets as deep as the chasm below. Mailise, a spirited young woman, finds her quiet life upended when her step-sister's marriage threatens to cast her back into the shadows of an unwanted existence. With her mother expecting a new child and her place at court uncertain, an unexpected invitation to a foreign land offers a chance at a new beginning, or perhaps, a new kind of confinement. As she prepares to leave the only home she's known, Mailise must decide if escaping one gilded cage means flying into another, or if true freedom awaits beyond the mist-shrouded falls.
