Two centuries after leaving a dead Earth, the Ark has finally reached paradise. Except paradise already has owners — and they level up by killing things like him. Kai Voss was never supposed to be special. Just another child born in the cold steel corridors of the generation ship. But when the ruling Council declares the surface uninhabitable and prepares to let the last hope of humanity rot in orbit, Kai becomes the first in two hundred years to step off the ship. Alone & Unleveled. Carrying nothing but a name and an old photograph of the blue planet they left behind. The moment his boots touch Aetheria soil, the System awakens: [Integration Complete.] [Welcome, Outsider. Level 0.] Now the stars’ forgotten son must survive bloodthirsty monsters, scheming natives, and the terrifying truth that his ancestors may have doomed both worlds. Every level he gains brings him closer to godhood… and closer to a choice that will decide the fate of two civilizations.

Story is great. Very unique. I’m struggling to keep listening because the AI narrator seems to take large gasps of air before speaking.

I'm on the fourth chapter the interplay between the main character and what I will call the AI is really good. that sounds awesome on recordings is horrible. the volume drops almost to an inaudible point there are Hall effects there is echo there's static is all sorts of things happening distortions that make it really difficult to be able to understand what's being said. it's really detracts from the whole listening experience because you'll lose between a few seconds and a few minutes of the chapter you're listening to. sounds literally just goes away for a minute and make static and then comes back.
