An architect arrives to assess a burned-down barn, only to uncover a name carved into a charred beam—a name someone tried to erase, then carved again. Maren Calloway, a woman who reads fire patterns like secrets, quickly realizes this isn't just about structural damage; it's about a family's buried past. The Kincaid family, fiercely protective and riddled with unspoken tensions, clearly wants to keep their history hidden, especially from an outsider. As Maren digs deeper into the wreckage, she finds herself caught between a stubborn son and a father with his own agenda, all while a decades-old mystery threatens to ignite the present. What dark truth lies beneath the ashes of the Kincaid legacy, and how far will they go to keep it buried?

What an interesting story... I love the story. The author really work on the protagonist giving her a good role. The male voice is even making it more interesting for me to listen to, I love the tone and space of how the voice.
