Cal Voss has four days to find £40,000 or lose everything — including his dying mother. When a stranger offers him a way out, he takes it, and wakes up inside a centuries-old shadow organization that secretly controls the balance of power across Europe. Every operative is assigned a Counter: a hidden assassin who will end you if you ever step out of line. You never know who yours is. It could be your closest ally. But Cal's new life hides an older secret — his father, David Voss, didn't die twenty-three years ago. He vanished, burned by someone inside the very organization that just recruited his son. Now Cal has to climb a ruthless rank system, outthink people who've been playing this game since before he was born, and decide how far he's willing to go to find a father he never knew — before the people hunting him find him first.

The narration (I'm assuming AI?) is quite monotone, but it seems to fit the tone of the story so far. I like this story, because it's not like everything else on this app (martial arts, magical systems, vampires, marrying millionaires, being in school, etc.) and it always has me wondering what the MC will encounter next and what he's getting himself into.

I wasn't expecting much, but wow, this audio series totally hooked me. The storytelling feels so real, like you're right there with Cal. I found myself staying in the car just to finish an episode. I'm impressed.

Everything about this story makes me want to listen to it over and over again. I love the plot, the context is amazing. Cal is quite smart. The way he carries himself through the situation is marvelous. Please add more episodes.
