Seventeen-year-old Nico Reeves is just trying to survive high school in Newark when the System arrives, transforming the world overnight. While others gain powers and glory, Nico gets a title he never asked for: "SuperHero." There's just one problem—he's no hero. He's not brave, not strong, and definitely not a fighter. But whenever monsters attack and death seems certain, something impossible happens. Nico closes his eyes, accepts his fate... and wakes up to find the danger mysteriously erased. Everyone thinks he saved them. The System credits him with impossible victories. His "hero name" trends on social media. But Nico knows the truth: he didn't do any of it. As the bodies pile up and the debts grow deeper, Nico must uncover what's really happening when he closes his eyes—before the cost of being a hero destroys everything he's trying to protect.
