Ignore all the softies complaining about how “evil” the mc is. Here’s my take, this mc named Ethan isn’t “evil” he’s just an asshole. A very intelligent and manipulative one, but that just makes the story interesting, and the contrast between him and most heroic mc’s in other stories makes this one oddly addictive. Even in other stories when the mc’s themselves claim not to be heroes they go out of their way to save someone or disrupt something bad happening. But in this story, the guy pretends to be a saint while being a total scumbag 😂, but honestly. That doesn’t make him evil and so far he’s done way more good than bad, even if his intentions aren’t the brightest. So I guess he’s still an MC at the end of the day, he’s blunt but nice sometimes. The voice acting is amazing, along with the soundtracks. The characters are well written too.

This book is hard to describe. If taken at the narrators word, he's manipulative scum beyond saving. His actions are morally gray at best, while his thought process frequently goes beyond gray well into black... but... the results: he eliminates evil, upholds good, is fiercely loyal to his allies, and maintains the image of an upright Saint. Beyond reason... his selfish, insecure, sometimes even overtly evil actons... contribute not just to the good of society but paint him as a paragon of self-sacrifice comparable to Jesus Christ himself. And somehow, through it all, despite knowing his motivation and dark manipulation behind the scenes... the good he does and the lives he touches... the moments of grace are still touching and moving beyond what is logically reasonable. The author is a master of writing broken people trying to maintain broken relationships and only half succeeding.

It’s either missing detail I missed detail or the main character is mean, and I don’t like him I’m trying not to elaborate and ruin the story
