Nachiyaar

There is a deep mystery surrounding the temple of Nachiyar Amman. The sanctum sanctorum remains locked and only virgin girls from the local Nachiar family are allowed to open it and do puja, that too only when they get a divine command. Two fierce cobras guard the doors of the shrine and whoever tries open them forcefully get killed by snake bite immediately. After a long gap, when divine command is received, Akhilandeswari, the grand daughter of Velu Nachiar tries to open the shrine. But the guarding cobras do not allow her inside the shrine and repel her. All are astonished. On the other hand, Kothai, the 8 year old servant maid girl who accompanies Akhila enters the shrine and the cobras allow her. She is also permitted by the priest to do puja for the Goddess. Everyone start questioning why the cobras repelled Akhila and permitted Kothai. Arjun, the city bred youngster who comes to the village sees Akhila and falls in love. A saint appears in his dream and announces that he is destined to stay back in the village and save the Nachiyar family and also the temple. Arjun is faced with the challenges of protecting Nachiyar family, and the temple's heritage. He is also desperate to marry Akhila who is shocked over the temple incident and hence not ready to accept Arjun!. What is the connection between Arjun and Nachiyar family ?
