Jay was sleeping deeply in his room when suddenly he heard his mother’s voice echoing in his ears. “Get up! I’ve been waking you for so long, and I have other work besides just waking you. You said, ‘Mama, I’ll get up in five minutes,’ but you’re still asleep.” He jolted awake and thought to himself— Am I going to my mother in my final moments? Is that why I can hear her voice? A faint smile appeared on his face at the thought. But then, suddenly, a slap landed on his cheek. Jay jerked awake and opened his eyes. Before him stood his mother. The moment he saw her, he immediately pulled her into a tight embrace and cried, “Mama, I will never let you go. Never.” His mother gently pulled him back and looked him over from head to toe, asking, “What’s wrong, son? Why do you look so frightened?” Jay glanced around the room and realized he was in his own room. Taking a deep breath, he said, “Nothing, Mama… I just had a very bad dream.” He hugged her again, quietly thanking his heart that it had only been a dream, not reality. But what was it in that dream? Was it merely an illusion, or a sign of things to come? How was this dream connected to Jay’s present life and his future? To find out, keep reading “Silent Revenge” — only on Pocket FM.
