Ex–special ops Sergeant Darius Jenkins comes to Edgewater for a quiet law-enforcement job—but the town recognizes him before he can disappear. A wave of overdoses spreads like a sickness, a black van with no plates stalks crime scenes, and a “welcome” box delivers a phone that calls Darius by rank… and greets Sheriff Otis Ransom by name.
