*Trigger warning: This story contains themes of abuse, trauma, and murder.* Luna's life was a mess. Growing up in an orphanage, she never knew her parents, and the nuns who ran the place weren't exactly warm and fuzzy. She was just another mouth to feed, another kid to clothe. But Luna was different, and she knew it. She had a wild streak, a spark that refused to be extinguished. As she approached her 18th birthday, Luna's life was about to take a dramatic turn. She'd been adopted by a lovely couple, Mark and Sarah. They seemed kind, genuinely interested in giving her a loving home. Luna was skeptical, but desperate for a family, she took a chance. At first, everything seemed perfect. Mark and Sarah showered her with attention, gifts, and affection. They encouraged her to pursue her love of art, bought her a studio in the attic, and even helped her enroll in college. But as the months passed, Luna began to feel a creeping sense of unease. Mark and Sarah were controlling, possessive. They'd show up unexpectedly, "checking in" on her, questioning her about her friends, her schedule, her life. Luna felt suffocated, trapped. She tried to brush it off, thinking maybe she was just paranoid, maybe she was just ungrateful. But then, the nightmares started. Luna would wake up in the middle of the night, heart racing, feeling like she was being watched. She'd hear whispers, low and menacing, in her ear. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. And then, on the night of her 18th birthday, everything changed. Luna was in her attic studio, working on a painting, when she felt it. A strange, tingling sensation, like electricity coursing through her veins. She looked down at her hands, and they were changing. Fur sprouted, claws extended, and her vision sharpened. Luna was a wolf. A she-wolf, to be exact. She didn't know how, didn't know why, but she knew she was different. And as she stood there, panting, trying to process this new reality, she heard footsteps outside her door. Mark and Sarah, smiling, eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light, approached her. "Happy birthday, Luna," they said, their voices dripping with malice. "You're finally one of us." Luna's instincts kicked in, and she growled, baring her teeth. She didn't know what was happening, but she knew she was in danger. Mark and Sarah lunged at her, and Luna, fueled by fear and adrenaline, fought back. She tore through the room, snarling, biting, and clawing. She didn't know how she was doing it, but she was defending herself, protecting herself. When the fight was over, Mark and Sarah lay motionless on the floor. Luna, still in her wolf form, approached them cautiously. She saw the truth in their eyes, the cold, calculating gaze of predators. They'd been playing her all along, manipulating her, grooming her for... what? Luna didn't stick around to find out. She fled the house, into the night, her wolf senses guiding her. She ran, feeling free and alive, yet terrified. As the sun rose, Luna found herself in a forest, hidden from prickly humans. She collapsed, exhausted, and fell asleep. When she woke, she was human again, naked and vulnerable. But she wasn't alone. A group of wolves, her pack, surrounded her, their eyes warm and welcoming. Luna had a lot to learn, about her powers, about her past, about herself. But she knew one thing – she was a she-wolf, and she was ready to unleash her wild side.
