Elias Mercer returns to Broken Ridge after twelve years expecting a simple visit, but he finds the family logging business failing and the town divided by a powerful land development firm. His brother Jace resents carrying the burden alone, and their father hides worsening health while claiming everything is fine. As Elias steps back into the sawmill he abandoned, he realizes how close the town is to collapse. Tension rises as neighbors face pressure from the developer, and old frustrations between the Mercer brothers surge. During the turmoil, Elias reconnects with Reese McAllister, a childhood friend now caring for her niece and supporting families in need. Their gentle, wholesome bond gives Elias an unexpected sense of stability. With debts mounting and a decisive vote approaching, he must choose between walking away again or fighting to restore his family, his town, and a place he may finally call home.
