Reluctant Immortal follows Lu Yang, an ordinary modern teen who gets yanked into a world of immortal cultivation, ruthless sect hierarchies, and supernatural entrance exams. He survives the legendary Daoist sect not by raw talent, but by wit, empathy, and a refusal to accept cruelty as normal. When he befriends Meng Jingzhou, a gifted young noble whose rare Pure Yang root grants terrifying power at the cost of a lifelong ban on love, intimacy, and emotional attachment, Lu realizes the sect isn’t training disciples… it’s training them to surrender their humanity. Together they navigate brutal training, rival disciples, and political maneuvering inside a cosmic system that treats desire as weakness, and quietly start breaking rules from the inside.
