"I'm sorry, Kayla. But, I can't marry you." He said to me in that cool, regal voice of his that had stolen my heart the first time we met. "Why not? You already proposed to me. What changed all of a sudden?" I asked, still confused by what was going on. At that time, I was working at the Summertimes Cafeteria in Brooklyn, and he had driven down to speak to me.
