Ashes of Mnemosyne is a dark historical fantasy set in ancient Britannia during the time of Spartacus. Amid the looming threat of Roman conquest, Caelum, a gifted druid of the Iceni tribe, mourns the mysterious disappearance of his beloved, Aedric, lost during a brutal Roman raid. Haunted by grief and the restless stirrings of a primal, wolfish instinct that coils beneath his skin, Caelum performs a forbidden ritual invoking Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory, hoping to reclaim what was taken. When a stranger named Ash appears—bearing Aedric’s face but no memory—Caelum believes the ritual has succeeded. But Ash is not who he seems. There is a wildness to him, a taut energy beneath his calm exterior, as if a predator waits just beneath human form. As Roman forces encroach and tribal alliances fracture, Ash begins to unravel, driven by visions of fire, chains, and vengeance, his instincts clawing at the edges of reason. Caelum soon uncovers a horrifying truth: Ash is not Aedric reborn, but a vessel for Mnemosyne’s wrath—an ancient force feeding on the memories of the dead, a creature as untamed and cunning as the forest itself, using human flesh to stalk Rome. Torn between love and duty, human and wolfish instinct, Caelum must decide: surrender his most sacred memories to save his people, or cling to the ghost of a man who may never have truly returned. As the grove burns and the gods awaken, the line between memory and identity blurs, leaving only ashes—and the hunger of something primal—in its wake.
