"Five friends of Dharampura village—Bablu, Shantanu, Shani, Molu and Deepu—grew up in poverty and oppression of the British. Swearing on the tricolour under a banyan tree, they started a secret revolution. Sometimes stealing gunpowder from the cantonment, sometimes cheating the tax collector, sometimes planning to blow up the British train—every mission was like playing with death. And finally when the village was surrounded by the British army, all five were martyred holding the tricolour in a shower of bullets. Their sacrifice became the spark of revolution not only in Bihar but in the whole of India."
