The elite dwell in the High Spire, wielding Divine Masks that grant them the ability to command time, gravity, and the elements. Below them, in the smog-choked Rust Sump, live the Faceless—outcasts forced to wear blank porcelain, serving as biological batteries for the masks of the rich. The story follows Ren, a Faceless assassin who has done the impossible: he murdered a High Lord and stole the forbidden Shadow-Weaver Mask. But the mask is a parasite, slowly consuming his physical form as his Sync-Rate plummets toward a lethal zero. Ren’s only hope for survival is an unlikely "Blood-Anchor" with Lady Lyra, a noblewoman fleeing a crumbling system with her own Echo Mask. Bound together by a literal violet thread of life-force, they must descend into the bottomless Great Pit to find the First Mask—the original source code of the world’s power.
