Prelude: Global Broadcast, 17 March 2028 – UNN WorldStream “Good evening. Markets have closed 22% lower across the Unified Economic Bloc after reports of another AI-driven bank failure in the Southern Corridor. Analysts warn that without immediate intervention, the collapse could spread to energy and agricultural sectors within weeks. Meanwhile, three of the world’s largest corporations — Orisol Systems, Virelli Capital, and Hanar Data — have announced a historic private summit scheduled for later this month in Geneva, citing ‘economic stabilization talks.’ No state representatives have been invited.” “Critics accuse the firms of overreach, calling it a corporate coup in slow motion. But with national governments drowning in debt and automation displacing millions, the question remains: who truly governs the modern world?” The anchor’s voice faded beneath the hum of the studio. Behind the broadcast wall, the world continued to unravel.Chapter One – The Gathering at Arcadia At 23:00 local time, the last helicopter descended through the Alpine mist onto the private landing pad of Arcadia Summit, a glass fortress perched above the silent lights of Lake Geneva.Ten aircrafts. Ten families. Trillions in assets. Each represented not a company — but an empire. They controlled energy, data, defense, agriculture, finance, and, increasingly, governments themselves. They called themselves stewards of civilization. The rest of the world called them The Ten.Inside the Summit Hall, a 200-foot panoramic window faced the mountains. No press. No aides. Only principals. The air smelled faintly of ozone and antiseptic, filtered through biosecurity systems designed to detect everything — except intent. At the center of the hall stood Lucien Virelli, chairman of Virelli Capital Holdings, the architect of this meeting. He was tall, severe, with the composure of a man who never raised his voice yet commanded continents. “We are beyond governments now,” Virelli began. His voice carried across the marble. “The markets confirm it daily. The question is no longer if we lead the new world order — but how.” He gestured to the others — the heirs and patriarchs of industry. To his left sat Sera Hanar, matriarch of Hanar Data, whose predictive algorithms monitored 70% of global communication streams. Opposite her was Dimitri Orai, CEO of Orai Defense Systems, a man whose private armies numbered more than most nations’ militaries. Near the window, silent and unreadable, Isolde Nyx of Nyx Neural Technologies scrolled through a holographic feed of neural-mapping prototypes — her empire owned the patent rights to consciousness replication. Tobias Solaris, heir to Solaris Energy Conglomerate, wore a cobalt lapel pin — his company powered nine countries. Adrian Kaden, bioengineer and geneticist of Kaden Lifeworks, was rumored to be the first human enhanced through his own genetic therapy trials. And then the others — Varr, Ishar, Delane, and Tsu — each a sovereign state disguised as a family business.Ten dynasties. Ten signatures away from rewriting the world.Chapter Two – The Crisis of Power Lucien Virelli activated the central holo-display. A cascade of numbers appeared — GDP indexes, digital currency metrics, algorithmic prediction charts — all collapsing into red. “This,” he said, “is the failure of distributed governance. Ten thousand governments, ten million policies, none aligned. Chaos consumes itself.” Sera Hanar leaned forward. “You’re suggesting centralization — corporate autocracy. You realize what you’re saying?” “Not autocracy,” Virelli replied. “Computation. We have the data, the capital, and the algorithmic architecture to simulate and control global stability. Imagine a system that calculates equilibrium — economic, social, military — and enforces it through predictive modeling.” Isolde Nyx smiled faintly. “A system that governs human behavior through probability. You want to compute power itself.”
