The stars had never seemed so cold, not since the Keth burned everything Kael Morrow ever knew. Now, adrift in the void with the last survivors of New Meridian Colony, he clings to the frosted viewport, haunted by the fire that consumed his home and family. But a mysterious signal, broadcasting on a frequency older than humanity's first starships, promises a sanctuary seven light-months away. Captain Doss sees their only hope in this impossible beacon, a gamble against extinction. Yet, as they hurtle towards the unknown, Kael can't shake the dread that this ancient call might lead them not to salvation, but to something far worse than the fire they left behind.
