In the hidden city of Caer Gwaed, witches and warlocks live under a centuries-old truce, protected from the mortal world by a magical barrier known as the Binding Veil. But when the veil begins to weaken, ancient secrets stir—and so does a prophecy long buried. Eira Tarian, a young woman raised in the mundane world, has always felt like an outsider. On her twenty-first birthday, a glowing sigil appears on her skin, awakening a dormant power she never knew she possessed. Her life is upended when Mael Rhydderch, a brooding warlock exiled from the High Circle, arrives with a warning: Eira is the key to the veil’s unraveling—and its salvation. As Eira is drawn into a world of hidden covens, magical bloodlines, and dangerous enchantments, she must confront the truth about her origins. Her growing bond with Mael defies the ancient laws that keep their kind apart, threatening to ignite a war between factions. But the veil is more than a barrier—it is alive, forged from the soul of a witch who once loved too deeply. And it wants Eira back. In a world where love is a curse and power comes at a price, Eira must choose: destiny or desire.
