Amrapali, the beauty queen, was the only daughter of Mahanaman, a common soldier in the army of the city of Vaishali. Unlike the girls , Amrapali didn’t have the freedom to move around and was confined to the walls of the house. Amrapali found a new liking and started learning the art of dance secretly. When her foster Mother Ambe found out about her secret passion, she asked Amrapali to promise her not to ever dance publically. Amrapali promised, but destiny had something else in store! One day, Amrapali witnessed the Nagarvadhu of Vaishali. Seeing her royal lifestyle, Amrapali decided to become one! The chance came at the age of 16, and Amrapali was declared the new Nagarvadhu of Vaishali. The day she was adorned by the title of Nagarvadhu, Amrapali realizes that the job of a Nagarvadhu is not limited to entertain people through her dance! She has to do much more than that!
