The Clockmaker's Veil

The Clockmaker's Veil appears, at first glance, to be nothing more than an old pocket watch, it's brass casing dulled by age, it's crystal glass cracked in two sharp lines like a spiders web. The hand within do not move in any pattern recognizable to the living. sometimes it ticked forward and sometimes backwards, sometimes they pulse altogether, only to lurch suddenly as though time it's self has skipped a heartbeat. A faint whir gears echoes when no one touches it, and on occasion, a whisper can be heard from within the casing, as though a hidden voice countdown to some unseen end. Despite it's deceptive form, the veil does not bend time as legend might suggest. Instead it hides within time, clocking it's bearer in a shimmer of unreality. when triggered. the world seems to slow, while the user steps half a pace outside the current moment.
